little of denial. Claims that when Lindsay was home with her, she was always sober. Even if this is true or not, that doesn’t matter, we all know that some addicts can function and some cannot. Just because she seems ok, doesn’t mean she is ok. Is Dina in denial or just indifferent? Per the show, it’s too soon to tell. Also, I think I question her because she had recently gotten a DUI. So does she have a problem as well? Does this just further the point that perhaps she was involved a little too much in the partying scene with Lindsay? Hmm, hard to say. I think I would question any mother of 4 getting a DUI.
Matt, her assistant and Michael her sober coach seem to be two people genuinely invested in her health and her success. We learn that Matt fires the new assistant Hollie for drinking wine in front of Lindsay. It’s clear that he takes her sobriety very seriously. Michael feels like his time is up now. He helped her with the transition and now it’s up to her. He feels like she has all the tools to keep in sobriety, but seems to question if she is still sober. At the end of the episode he believes that is really Lindsay’s business and he isn’t at liberty to talk about it. Again, seeming protective of her.
AJ, her life coach: I do feel like AJ’s purpose is valid but I don’t know if she quite gets Lindsay. Some of their conversations are a bit rough and clumsy. Sometimes it feels like AJ is searching for stories or for personal truths out of Lindsay and I don’t know if it always seems genuine or just a need or want to know what is really going on. The positives of AJ is her pushing Lindsay to get to a schedule and be mindful of her health in every way.
That can’t be a bad thing….
We watch as she does some community service at a school in Brooklyn. It was a nice scene. These kids have no idea who she is and just were looking to connect and play with her, and she really does great in that environment. She seems to have a genuine interest in connecting with children. She explains that her former community service was done in a morgue and it “felt more like a punishment, then to serve.” She didn’t feel like she was doing
any good being there and would rather work with kids and try to make a difference. It’s clear that she bonds with Donovan, a child with some speech delays. She is very cute with him.
She also discusses her frustration with her management. She doesn’t feel like they are fighting for her to get roles. She feels that she is looked over because her agents will try to get the better roles for the more “breadwinner’s”such as Vanessa Hudgens. She doesn’t feel the support from them and it’s clearly stifling her
She closes the episode saying that recently her sobriety has been
tested. She mentions that she “loves the nightlife” so it’s assumed that is
where her sobriety is tested. It’s good to see her honesty, hopefully, she can
keep it together. I think she dives deeper into this next
